In short

What does a handyman handle in Atlantic Highlands?

Here: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, tile, painting and general repair in Atlantic Highlands, from a West Long Branch base. Hill streets here are steep — mention access when you call if the property is hard to get a van close to.

Local record

Three things on file about houses here

01

The highest point on the eastern seaboard is here

Mount Mitchill in Atlantic Highlands rises 266 feet above sea level and is the highest point on the Atlantic seaboard south of Maine. The Navesink Highlands headlands it sits on are the reason the borough exists in the shape it does — a town built on a slope rather than a flat shore grid, with steep streets and properties stepped down toward the harbour.

Height helps, but slope moves water

Being up on the headlands takes most of the tidal flood risk off the table, and that is genuinely unusual on this stretch of coast. What replaces it is run-off: on a sloped lot rainwater arrives from uphill, and grading, gutters, downspout runs and where a driveway sheds to matter far more than they would on flat ground.

03

Hill houses, and the access problem that comes with them

A slope changes the practical side of a job as much as the technical one. Split levels stepped into the hill, basements that are below-grade on one side and at grade on the other, and streets where getting a van and materials close to the building is the first thing to work out. It is worth mentioning access on the call.

  • I’m so glad to have The Trusty Monmouth County Handyman out and repair my kitchen cabinets. The previous homeowner did not use the correct screws and even missed the studs on some of them. All secure and up to code now. He finished a little early and asked what else he could look at and cleaned out the tub drain too.

  • I called on The Trusty Monmouth County Handyman Services once again. This time I needed drywall repair. The texture that was applied to the ceilings during construction of this house — over time the texture started to release and some of it fell. I tried to repair this myself but had no luck. I’m not permitted to use ladders anymore since I have the tendency to fall off. That’s why I called the Handyman. He fixed all my texture that was falling. He also inspected the rest of my ceiling to check for any cracking so he could prevent another collapse. I have to tell you; this outfit is top notch.
