In short

What does a handyman handle in Colts Neck?

Local record

Three things on file about houses here

01

Zoned at one house per ten acres

Colts Neck reduced zoning density across much of the township to a single unit per ten acres as a farmland preservation measure. That is an unusual figure for Monmouth County and it shapes everything downstream — lot sizes, how far services run, and what any addition or outbuilding has to clear before it gets a permit.

02

Still farmland, and measurably less of it

Between 1983 and 2022 Colts Neck lost 3,773 acres of land in agricultural use — about 18% of the township’s total area. What remains is a mix of working and preserved farmland with large residential properties between it, so two addresses in the same township can be completely different kinds of job.

03

Private systems, long runs

Like neighbouring Holmdel, much of Colts Neck runs on private wells and individual septic rather than mains, and on lots this size the runs between the house, the well, the septic field and the road are long. A pressure problem or a slow drain here has more places to go wrong between the fixture and the source than it does on a quarter-acre lot.

  • I’m so glad to have The Trusty Monmouth County Handyman out and repair my kitchen cabinets. The previous homeowner did not use the correct screws and even missed the studs on some of them. All secure and up to code now. He finished a little early and asked what else he could look at and cleaned out the tub drain too.

  • I called on The Trusty Monmouth County Handyman Services once again. This time I needed drywall repair. The texture that was applied to the ceilings during construction of this house — over time the texture started to release and some of it fell. I tried to repair this myself but had no luck. I’m not permitted to use ladders anymore since I have the tendency to fall off. That’s why I called the Handyman. He fixed all my texture that was falling. He also inspected the rest of my ceiling to check for any cracking so he could prevent another collapse. I have to tell you; this outfit is top notch.
