The first permanent house here went up in 1816
Fair Haven’s recorded history starts in the early 1800s, when it was still part of Shrewsbury Township — Jeremiah Chandler built the first permanent dwelling on the riverbank in 1816, and Chandler’s Dock followed by 1850. The borough itself was only incorporated in 1912. That leaves a housing stock with genuinely old bones under a century of later alteration.
