In short

What does a handyman handle in Hazlet?

Here: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, tile, painting and general repair in Hazlet, from a West Long Branch base. Most of Hazlet went up in the same twenty-year window, so if a neighbour has just had the same thing done, say so — it usually shortens the diagnosis.

Local record

Three things on file about houses here

01

Six houses in ten went up in the same twenty years

Over 60% of Hazlet housing was built between 1940 and 1969. The township took its present name in 1953, right as post-war migration out of New York drove the build-out, and the population kept climbing through the 1960s and 70s. A township built that fast arrives at the same problems together — original supply lines, original panels and original drain runs across whole streets reaching the end within a few years of each other.

02

Bayshore high-tide flooding is getting more frequent

Hazlet sits on the Raritan Bayshore, and high-tide flooding around Raritan Bay is projected to happen more often rather than less. The Army Corps has a Raritan Bay and Sandy Hook Bay coastal storm risk management study covering this stretch. For a homeowner the practical end of that is drainage, sump discharge and how well the low side of a property sheds water — not just what happens in a named storm.

03

A township organised around two highways

Hazlet is laid out along the Route 35 and Route 36 corridors with residential streets behind them, rather than around a single downtown. Where a property sits relative to those corridors tends to decide its lot size, its age and whether it is on the higher or lower ground running down toward the bay.

  • I’m so glad to have The Trusty Monmouth County Handyman out and repair my kitchen cabinets. The previous homeowner did not use the correct screws and even missed the studs on some of them. All secure and up to code now. He finished a little early and asked what else he could look at and cleaned out the tub drain too.

  • I called on The Trusty Monmouth County Handyman Services once again. This time I needed drywall repair. The texture that was applied to the ceilings during construction of this house — over time the texture started to release and some of it fell. I tried to repair this myself but had no luck. I’m not permitted to use ladders anymore since I have the tendency to fall off. That’s why I called the Handyman. He fixed all my texture that was falling. He also inspected the rest of my ceiling to check for any cracking so he could prevent another collapse. I have to tell you; this outfit is top notch.
