In short

What does a handyman handle in Ocean Township?

Here: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, tile, painting and general repair in Ocean Township, from a West Long Branch base. Tell us Oakhurst, Wanamassa or Wayside — the township name on its own narrows almost nothing.

Local record

Three things on file about houses here

01

Three communities wearing one township name

Ocean Township is really Oakhurst, Wanamassa and Wayside — three unincorporated communities under a single municipal name, each with its own character and its own price band, roughly $300k to over $1m. They share neither housing stock nor drainage. The section is the piece of information that actually helps on the phone.

02

A 1970s township with an 1800s layer underneath

The bulk is post-war Colonial, Cape Cod and split-level with a heavy 1970s build-out, but the township dates to 1849 and there is still a Victorian and Gilded Age layer beneath the suburban one. A 1970s split and an 1880s house have almost no failure modes in common, and both are entirely normal here.

One of the seven towns on the Deal Lake Commission

Ocean Township holds a seat on the Deal Lake Commission, and the 2018 storm — the heaviest rainfall the county had seen in over a century — put water into Colonial Terrace and the Wanamassa side. Nearly the entire lake shoreline is built on, a good deal of it inside the 100-year flood plain.

  • I’m so glad to have The Trusty Monmouth County Handyman out and repair my kitchen cabinets. The previous homeowner did not use the correct screws and even missed the studs on some of them. All secure and up to code now. He finished a little early and asked what else he could look at and cleaned out the tub drain too.

  • I called on The Trusty Monmouth County Handyman Services once again. This time I needed drywall repair. The texture that was applied to the ceilings during construction of this house — over time the texture started to release and some of it fell. I tried to repair this myself but had no luck. I’m not permitted to use ladders anymore since I have the tendency to fall off. That’s why I called the Handyman. He fixed all my texture that was falling. He also inspected the rest of my ceiling to check for any cracking so he could prevent another collapse. I have to tell you; this outfit is top notch.
