In short

What does a handyman handle in Wall?

Here: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, tile, painting and general repair in Wall, from a West Long Branch base. Wall is a big township — tell us the nearest cross street, because the flood-hazard land is very unevenly spread.

Local record

Three things on file about houses here

01

1,254 acres of the township are flood hazard land

Wall has roughly 1,254 acres inside the flood hazard area, of which more than 370 acres belong to the Shark River and its tributaries. Parts of the township flood tidally rather than from rainfall — segments of the Shark River back up on unusually high tides — so two properties a mile apart can have completely different exposure.

02

Median 1968, but a quarter of it is much older

Median construction year in Wall is 1968, and about 17.4% of the housing predates 1940 with another 8.5% up by 1949. Nearly 72% of the roughly 18,000 units are detached single-family — bungalows, cape cods, ranches and split-levels, with newer waves added through the 2000s and 2010s. The spread of ages is wider here than in most of the county.

03

A large township with several separate characters

Wall covers a lot of ground and does not behave as one place. Allenwood and Glendola are inland and wooded; the eastern edge runs up against Sea Girt and the shore; Shark River Park is shared with Neptune and Tinton Falls along the northern boundary. Lot sizes, services and drainage all change with it.

  • I’m so glad to have The Trusty Monmouth County Handyman out and repair my kitchen cabinets. The previous homeowner did not use the correct screws and even missed the studs on some of them. All secure and up to code now. He finished a little early and asked what else he could look at and cleaned out the tub drain too.

  • I called on The Trusty Monmouth County Handyman Services once again. This time I needed drywall repair. The texture that was applied to the ceilings during construction of this house — over time the texture started to release and some of it fell. I tried to repair this myself but had no luck. I’m not permitted to use ladders anymore since I have the tendency to fall off. That’s why I called the Handyman. He fixed all my texture that was falling. He also inspected the rest of my ceiling to check for any cracking so he could prevent another collapse. I have to tell you; this outfit is top notch.
